Volcanic Technology

Volcanic Tech is made from Basalt Fibres extruded from volcanic rocks that are crushed, melted and extruded into woven fibres that make up the cloth layers that wrap around the board. The cloth features similar characteristics to carbon in regard to strength and weight however, being constructed from natural organic materials, it is a better degradable ECO alternative than traditional carbon fibre cloth. Basalt fibres have better strength characteristics than traditional glass fibres, and unlike most glass fibres is highly resistant to alkaline, acidic and salt corrosion. Basalt fibres also have more flex than traditional Carbon fibre, allowing the board to have more flex for a natural feel under foot.

The latest creation from Slater Designs and Firewire. The Cymatic is a fusion of the Omni and the Scifi and continues Tomos evolution of minimalist highly refined modern planning hull designs. The Cymatic features a slightly more pulled in double bat tail, deeper quad inside single concave and an increased rocker relative to the scifi.

LFT – Linear Flex Technology

A fibreglass and epoxy sandwich with an EPS core and Firewire’s new Springer HD… a 0.75 (18 mm) wide aerospace composite that runs down the centre-line of the board, representing the next generation in their ‘Springer’ technology. Unlike the original balsa Springer build, which only added stiffness under the front foot, the Springer HD runs the entire length of the board and plays a pivotal role in optimizing flex from nose to tail.
