More Information
After a couple of years of riding the Go Fish, Rob Machado felt there was room to develop the board into something more high performance, allowing for more carves and tighter turns. Taking the Go Fish, he’s refined it with less area in the tail and narrowing both the swallow tail and the nose. The Go Fish is still a hugely popular board in its own right, and these boards sit perfectly side by side. Look at it as Go Fish for fun and cruisy, and the Seaside for performance and rippability.
Rob has completely redesigned the bottom contours to suit the quad fin set up. Unlike the Go Fish, the Seaside is strictly a quad.
The Seaside, (named after Rob’s local break), is available in Helium technology. After testing a prototype in LFT, Rob felt Helium would suit the beach breaks and little points that the board will really light up in, due to the light weight and responsive properties.
Helium Technology:
Firewire’s Helium Technology builds on their FST tech to take things up a level. A super light .8lb EPS interior core is sandwiched with a newly developed composite skin. The redesigned parabolic rail contains both Balsa and Paulownia woods. The end result is a 15% lighter board than the already light FST… Quicker flex and rebound characteristics and a higher breakpoint.
The Helium Technology is the result of three years research and development in the Firewire labs, (ie. the sea). What you have is the best elements of the FST and LFT. You have the lifespan of the FST, with the enhanced pop and feel of the LFT. The deck will also compress slightly underneath your feet, responding to your movements. We at Down the Line Surf Co. have every confidence that the Firewire boys have got this completely right… Helium Technology will be here for a long time!
